Photonics and Deep – Tech Idea Challenge call

Have you already completed your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a focus on photonics and want to make a difference? Your research is valuable – why not take it further? Bring your ideas to the table and let’s solve our challenges together. The deadline to apply is the 16th of October 2024 at 23.59 CET.

Our Idea Challenge is a competition for creative ideas in Photonics and DeepTech – with this Challenge our aim is to find the best ideas from all over Europe.

In recent years the manufacturing sector has been one of the stable pillars of European economic growth and prosperity. Photonics and DeepTech play a key role in supporting and
innovating the manufacturing ecosystem. Our goal is the establishment of an interregional deeptech innovation support network for manufacturing with the focus on Photonics and
DeepTech.

This is where our Idea Challenge steps forward: we are looking for lighthouse ideas that support the competetiveness, sustainability and efficiency of manufacturers through photonics and DeepTech. We’re looking for ideas and applicants from all fields, all backgrounds and all ages.

The objectives of our call:

• Supporting the implementation of innovative ideas and valuable business solutions.
• Helping talented people to build relationships and strengthen the flow of knowledge.
• Creating a common international platform and network for promising researchers and entrepreneurs
• The best ideas receive non-cash prizes in the amount of 1.000€, including a trip to Budapest to receive their award.

Application & selection process

• When? The deadline to apply is the 16th of October 2024 at 23.59 CET
• How? All applicants have to send their application form (filled in English) by email to [email protected] (Template provided as Appendix 2 for the Application form).
  After the call ends, the best application from each country will be selected by a Board of Experts. If necessary, the experts may contact applicants for additional information
  before making their final decision.
• Why? The selected ideas will be published on the project website (https://www.photonics.fi/projects/deepsupport/) and promoted through our networks. Every applicant will be notified about their results.
• Is there a prize? The selected applicant will receive a prize of 1000€ including a trip to Budapest early November to receive their award
